Brookside’s Foundation
  • February 1981 - six families launched the beginning of Brookside Church.
  • The original meeting place was the Willa Cather Elementary school at 139th & West Center Rd.
  • March 1981 - Steve Moltumyr was called to be Senior Pastor. At that time the church consisted of sixteen adults, one teenager, and eight children.
Spiritual and Numerical Growth
  • Knowing we would need another temporary facility until we could purchase land and build, we leased space in the Woodhaven Center at 160th & West Center Rd.
  • We had our first worship service at Woodhaven in July of 1982.
  • We experienced spiritual growth in our personal lives and numerical growth as a church body.
  • 1986 - Brookside voted to purchase just over 17 acres of land at the juncture of I-80 & L St.
  • 1988 - Brookside voted to build our first worship and ministry center.
  • March 1989 - First phase construction started.
Building for the Future
  • We transitioned from a relatively small area for worship with a few classrooms to a large auditorium with many classrooms.
  • We grew from approximately two hundred in attendance to just over three hundred.
  • This space for growth helped prepare us for stepping into our new building in 1989.
  • 1994 - Second phase of master plan completed, with new youth room and additional children's classrooms.
  • 1998 - Construction began on a new worship center, lobby and classrooms - completed in September 2000.
Strategic Planning
  • We have added ministry staff since our beginning in 1981.
  • We now have multiple staff providing leadership to the many ministries taking place through our church body.
  • 1999 - Brookside launched a church plant during the construction of the third phase of our building Master Plan.
  • Twin Valley was planted in Bellevue and is the result of a long-term plan to start a church in that city.
Anticipating the Future

We are truly excited about our future as a church and look forward with great anticipation to where God leads us in the years to come. We invite you to join us on the journey!
