At Brookside, we believe that baptism is intended for those who have already placed their faith in Jesus. Baptism is a meaningful step of obedience, publicly expressing your faith in Jesus and showing that Jesus’ work on the cross has been applied to you.
When you're baptized, you take a meaningful step of obedience and publicly express that you have placed your faith in what Jesus has done for you. Your life becomes a spotlight, as if to say, “Yes, I’ve placed my faith in Jesus and want to follow Him.” Your baptism displays the fresh and unique way the beauty of the gospel has been applied to you - a visible picture of the work Jesus has done for you and in you.
Your immersion in the water is a picture of our burial with Christ in His death. Our emergence from the water is a picture of being raised to new life with Jesus because of His resurrection.
We believe baptism is an outward expression of an internal transformation. Splash Class is designed to walk parents and children through this decision together. Every child is unique and kids are ready for baptism at different ages. We teach about the importance of baptism at the 4th and 5th grade level.
