Each new year brings with it a sense of anticipation.  We're inviting each Brooksider to join us in 2018 to read through Scripture every day.

What to Expect:
Mon-Fri, you’ll be reading a chapter of the New Testament each day. On Sat & Sun, you’ll read from Psalms, Proverbs & selected readings that line up thematically during Lent & Advent. By the end of the year, you’ll have read the entire New Testament, all of Proverbs and many of the Psalms.

Dig Deeper:
For video summaries of each book of the Bible, and other helpful resources, check out The Bible Project.  Other great resources are the books "Asking the Right Questions" by Matthew Harmon and "Journey Into God's Word" by J. Scott Duvall and J. Daniel Hays.

Daily journaling can help you read the Bible with intentionality. Try using the SOAP method (from Wayne Cordeiro’s The Divine Mentor) to focus on what God’s teaching you:

Scripture: As you read, ask God to bring one passage or verse to your attention that you can journal on.

Observation: Take note of the context and write down what point the Biblical author is making in your own words.

Application: Write out how you can apply what you’ve learned from this passage. Sometimes application isn’t something you do, but something you remember or reflect on.

Prayer: Write out a short prayer to God to close your time in Scripture.

Family Passage:

Looking to do 365 as a family? Here are a few tips:

  • Choose a consistent time that’s realistic for your family to commit to (such as after dinner or before bed).
  • Include the kids! Let them take turns reading. Have them each share a take-away from the day’s reading.
  • Don’t force it. Invite your kids into the experience, but it’s up to them if they engage in their heart.
  • Try memorizing—choose a verse each week that you can memorize together as a family!
