Haiti ReliefWe, as Brooksiders, want to respond to the tragedy in Haiti in tangible ways. We hope to be Christ's hands and feet by GIVING and GOING.
Going
Our Global Impact ministry is sent two teams to help with relief work. One team went in March and the other in July. While there the teams helped with disaster relief, handing out water, tarps, doing vacation bible school, prayer walks, and handing out flip flops to the children.
Giving
We collected donations on Sunday morning for three weeks. Brooksiders gave $19,420 for relief work in Hiati. Those monies were wired directly to AIM each week to quickly get relief supplies like water and food into the earthquake devastated region. AIM is the missions sending agency for our missionaries, Miguel and Kirsten Shaul, in the Dominican Republic. Donations to AIM was funneled through the Shauls to the relief work. Click here to visit the AIM website and find out more about their missions agency. Get updates on what the Shauls are doing now, by clicking here to visit their blog.
A small percentage of the money was also be sent to the Haiti Relief Fund being organized by our demonimation. You can read more about the EFCA's involvement in Haiti by clicking here.
