The Back To School Fund is set up to help the orphans of the Hope Children’s Center have a chance to get an education through 7th grade. In most developing nations, families have to pay to send their children to public school. Unfortunately, this leaves orphans particularly vulnerable. Even when placed in a foster family care, there is usually not enough money to send the child to school.
So, this fund is set up to ensure that even though a child may be orphaned, they will have the opportunity to get an education. This fund will cover student enrollment fees, uniforms, and books.
Below are a few details about the Back To School Fund.
- You can give any amount at any time throughout the school year.
- All checks should have "Back To School Fund" written in the memo line.
- The donations will be put into a fund that will have oversight from Brookside Church.
- The Hope Center will withdraw money approximately once a year as they need funds for the students.
- Not every Hope Center orphan will need funds. Some are not of school age. Others may chose not to go to school. Still others may have some money to pay part of their tution, but not enough to pay the entire amount. Each child's situation will be handled invidually by the Hope Center on a case by case and year by year basis.
- It will cost approximately $1050 to help an orphan go to school for 1st - 7th grade.
- This fund will raise the entire amount needed for a child to go to school through 7th grade before starting with another child. This will guarantee that the fund will have enough money to carry the child through their education without running out of money.
- Once the fund covers all 50 of the Hope Center orphans, additional funds may be used to support other orphans in the area or to help a poor school in the rural bush outside of Serenje.
- The fund will not create a one-to-one relationship between a donor and a child.
- This fund is specifically designed to be easy to administer by our Zambian brothers.
