Financial Good News/Bad News
It's good news that in the midst of a very challenging economy, our actual giving is up approximately 3.5% (ytd) over last year.  Our giving is meeting our expenses.  On the other hand, our budget was built with the anticipation that our giving would be up approximately 6.8% over last year.  Included in the budget was a pay down of $50,000 on our Line of Credit.  If our finances continue on the current trajectory, we will not be able to accomplish our goal of paying down on the Line of Credit.  We will also have to continue to limit our ministry expenses and postpone needed additions to the staff.
 
Sunday AM - Children's Ministry
In order to clean and reset the Children's nursery, preschool and elementary areas, those classrooms will be closed from 10:20-10:30.  Check in is available 15 min. prior to the start of each service (8:45am and 10:30am).

MOPS
Registration is now open for the 2010-2011 MOPS year.  Come find community and teaching on practical mom topis whil your MOPPETS child(ren) (birth - Kindgergarten) enjoy quality care and age appropriate activities.  Click here to register.  Questions?  email mhofer@brookside.net.
 
 
Women's Bible Study

Global Impact email globalimpact@brookside.net
  • Friends of Global Impact Team:  Encourage visiting missionaries by attending Mission Vision Lunches held approximately 6 times a year.
  • Missionary Care Team:  Encourage our missionaries in practical ways such as care packages and notes of encouragement.
  • Vision  Lunch Food Prep Team:  Help coordinate and host a pot-luck lunch for visiting missionaries.
  • Vision Lunch Tech Person:  Help run tech booth and sound so that visiting missionaries can share updates from the mission field during the Vision Lunches.

  • Sunday morning Host Team:  Serve once a month as greeter, usher, information team host, volunteer central or parking assistant.
  • Food Prep Team for Volunteer Central:  Serve once a month preparing breakfast baked goods to be served at Volunteer Central for those who are serving on that particular Sunday.
 
High School (Oasis) highschool@brookside.net
  • Female LIFEgroupleaders:  Co-lead a group of high school girls on Wednesday evening from 7:00-8:45pm.
  • Event/Program Personnel:  1-2 times a month, walk the hallways on Wednesday nights to make sure kids are in the right spots.
 
Event Team:  Help set up, take down, run registration and hosting for the October 22nd event.

Chair Team:  Help stack chairs after services one Sunday a month.
 
  • Community Impact Team:  Help plan our serving efforts in the community.  The team will meet as needed.
  • Step Out Team:  This team focuses on leqading the Step Out or SaturdayServe days throughout the year.
  • Open Door Mission:  Join a team of Brooksider one Saturday a month (or any Saturday your schedule allows) to do various work projects for ODM.
 
  • LIFEgroup leaders:  Facilitate a group of about 8 guys through a study of a book or topic.  You pick the time to meet.
 
  • Choir:  Men's voices needed for choir.  We meet Thursday nights from 6:30-7:30pm and sing in services periodically, holidays.
  • There are volunteer opportunities open in our Tech Booth.  If you have interest in serving in this way, please contact Chris Parliament, our Technical Director, at cparliament@brookside.net or at the church office.
 
Women's Ministry women@brookside.net
  • Monday Morning Volunteer:  You can help with women's ministry and children's ministry projects on Monday mornings from 9:00-12:00, several times a month.
  • MOPS:  Hold babies or play with little ones during the Moppets programming while their moms attend MOPS on Wednesday or Thursday mornings.
 
 
 


 
Adult Ed.
 
Fall 2010 classes began on Sunday, August 15th at the Safety Building.

Worship
 
Choir practice begins on Thursday, September 9th. Come join us on Thursday evenings, 6:30-7:30pm.

Community Impact
 
Adoption/Foster Care
Community Impact is building a network of families who can be a resource to others who are considering adoption or foster parenting.  If you're interested, email communityimpact@brookside.net.  Click here to find out more.

Junior High (Tribe)
 
Lock-in
Friday, Sept. 17th - 8:00 p.m. UNTIL Saturday, Sept. 18th - 7:00 a.m.
 
Don't miss this incredible all-nighter with all of your friends! It's actually not a "lock-in" because we will be going ice skating (at Tranquility Park) and bowling (at Western Bowl) late into the night. We'll have lazer tag at the church, food, inflatables, open gym, movies, games, and a ton of fun. The cost is $15 through Sept. 15th ($25 after the 15th). Flyers are available in the Tribe room or at Brookside's information table. 7th & 8th graders only please. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. Please brings socks (for bowling) and a sweatshirt (for ice skating---it will be cold!).
