Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ – What To Expect When Visiting

What is the worship service like?
Here at Brookside, we care more about your future than your past. Don't worry if it has been a long time since you have been to church. We hope you find this a place where people are authentic, genuinely friendly, and quick to offer grace. Our style is warm, relational and relaxed.

Our worship is fresh, contemporary and guitar-driven. Our teaching is relevant to today's world and grounded in God's word.

Don't worry about what you are wearing. We're more concerned with meeting your real needs than with what you wear. So, dress casually, enjoy our music and listen to practical messages that help you deal with real life issues. What you learn on Sundays, you'll be able to use through out the week.

Where do I go with questions?
If you arrive and have questions, please ask any of our greeters or simply stop by our Information Booth.

Is there a nursery for my young child?
Our Early Childhood Department is a safe and loving environment for children, birth through five years. Leaders give special care and attention to each child who is entrusted to them during the worship service. Jesus' love radiates from our leaders and helps your child feel that church is a happy place where they can feel safe and secure. If you leave a child in the nursery, you will receive a pager that allows you to be contacted should you be needed. Pre-school children's classrooms are located on the first floor just past the check-in counter and security gate. Parents of pre-schoolers will receive matching wristbands. Classes are available during both worship services.

What is offered for kids in elementary?
Every Sunday, kids are greeted as they enter elementary classrooms by our warm and friendly team of leaders. They'll hear Bible lessons presented in an interactive, creative way that will allow them to apply those truths to their lives. Your kids will sense the love of God coming from dedicated adults who are committed to serving Jesus by leading kids. Kindergarten through sixth grade students meet on the upper level. Classes, with the exception of sixth grade, are available during both worship hours. This allows both children and adults to attend the worship service as a family. Sixth graders meet during the 10:45am hour only.

What is offered for my teenager?
Our junior and senior high groups exude energy!  They are a great place to make friends and journey toward following Christ. During the school year, The Tribe (junior high, 7-8 grade) meets on Sunday morning at 10:45 for worship and a relevant message. They also meet on Wednesday night from 6:45 - 8:30 for large group games in the gym, singing and LIFEgroups.

During the school year, Oasis (senior high) meets on Wednesday nights from 7:00-8:40.  On Sunday mornings, we have a program called Student Impact where senior high students serve throughout the church in other ministries.

Where do I park?
As a guest, you'll get one of the best spots in our lot! Guest parking is available and marked both on the West and East parking lot.

How early should I arrive for a service?
If you have children, you will want to allow extra time not only for parking but it will be important to allow a few extra minutes to enroll your child(ren) in their respective class or nursery. We recommend arriving about 15 minutes before the service to allow ample time for parking and worship center seating.

What If I come from a different faith background?
While Brookside belongs to the "Evangelical Free Church" in its core beliefs, people who attend Brookside come from a wide variety of faith backgrounds – Baptist, Catholic, Lutheran, Methodist, etc. Together, we focus on biblical teachings, serving others, and experiencing more of the eternal kind of life that Jesus offers.

Will I understand the message, even if I don't know much about the Bible?
Our messages are prepared to connect with people's lives by teaching the Bible, which is ageless, and presenting it in a way that's understandable for today's people. The services are designed to be helpful to those who are exploring God and for those long-time Christians seeking spiritual and personal growth through God's word.

What If I'm not even sure I believe in God?
If you haven't made a decision to follow Jesus, but would like to know more about the kind of life that He offers, then come check us out. We want to be a place where people who have questions can come and feel comfortable to search at their own pace. And certainly feel free to contact any of our ministry staff with your questions or for direction in your search.

Where can I learn more about Brookside?
Feel free to browse our website for information. If you visit on a Sunday, please stop by the Information Table in the upper lobby. At that table, you will find people to answer your questions and provide you with printed resources on the ministries and programs at our church.
